New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year to all my readers out there, have a safe New Years Eve and wonderful 2014.

This year I will:
  • Always site my sources immediately, and copy and print and file them straight away. (Yeh right!)
  • Finish a book about my Heard family and publish it
  • Re - organise the links on my blog.
  • Work out how to do one of these word things (above) and design one for my family.
I think that will do it, don't want to push things too far!

In case you do not have them, here are the words to Auld Lang Syne, a Scotish poem written by Robert Burns in 1788.  I must say it is one of my most favourite songs:

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o’ lang syne!

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot
Sin’ auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’t in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye’ll be your pint’ stoup,
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

And the last word about New Years Eve:

The proper behaviour all through the holiday season is to be drunk.
This drunkenness culminates on New Year's Eve,
when you get so drunk you kiss the person you're married to.
